Don’t rely on boilerplate

I love web ubiquity, and think we should keep aware of our assumptions about standards.  What is the default now won’t always be so; retina is a great example of this. I agree that characteristics unique to a design should be the primary driver in the decision making process around implementation.  Given those cautions, as makers we know that standardizing, (eg. making assumptions around typical device sizes or screen dpi) is a great way to bootstrap an implementation, and the current trends around responsiveness are a safe way to address ubiquity with an elastic delivery mechanism.
